Mission statement

My campaign is built on one mission to Bridge the Connection. Between students and leadership, between different communities on campus, and between students and the resources that can help them succeed. I believe student government should be more than just titles and meetings. It should be about real impact, meaningful action, and genuine advocacy.

Students deserve to feel heard. Too often, important decisions are made without enough student input, leaving many feeling disconnected from their own leadership. I want to change that. As your senator, I will advocate for clear and open communication between students and administration. Your concerns matter, and I will make sure they are addressed. Student government should work for you, not the other way around.

As your senator, I will fight for open communication with administration, ensure that every student knows how to access the resources they need, and create meaningful connections between student groups and communities. Leadership is about service, not status. Together, we can create a stronger, more inclusive, and more empowered student body.

I am not just running for W.P. Carey senator. I am running for you for the student who wants to feel heard, for the leader who needs support, and for the student who wants to make a change but does not know where to start.

Your voice matters. Your concerns matter. Let’s Bridge the Connection!

My name is Diego Montijo I am a second generation Mexican American student. I am running for W.P. Carey School of Business senator for USG. I am a business public service and public policy major with minors in political science and real estate. I have always had a passion for student advocacy, transparency, and a person people can rely on.

Who am I?

My Values

My faith is who I am. I value my relationship with Jesus Christ because it is my foundation. I believe that if you have intentions founded on love then there is nothing you can’t do. Jesus led others with His love. Leading with love is my intention to making a lasting impact on students lives.

Aside from working and wanting to provide stability for students I want to be able to provide an environment where students want to get out of their comfort zone and have an exciting college experience.

At the core people want to learn. I want to be able to affirm that education is preserved and that students have a environment where they want to learn and educate themselves.

My Priorities

Student advocacy and representation

ASU offers incredible resources, including mental health support, financial aid, and academic tools, but they are only effective if students know how to access them. I will work to ensure that every student, regardless of background, knows what is available and how to get the help they need.

A trustworthy voice

Leadership is not about status or power. It is about service. It means standing up for those who feel unheard, finding solutions to real problems, and leaving a lasting impact. Change does not always come from one big action. It happens in small moments, in everyday conversations, and in the relationships we build.

My leadership style is dynamic and adaptable, shaping itself to meet the challenges ahead. I believe that if we Bridge the Connection, we can create a stronger, more inclusive, and more empowered student body.

Support for all

My campaign is lasting for all students at ASU. Although I am running for WP Carey Senator my goal is to be a focal point for all students not just those in the business school. I want to be able to provide students with the resources they need, as well as tend carefully to their needs.

Key Issues

  • I strive to be an open book for those who want to know me. For those who come to me wanting to know information either about myself or projects I am working on. I am open to talk about anything with anyone. Having an intellectual conversation with someone is key to fostering growth and creating community.

  • Across all communities students need to be represented. Growing up as a Mexican American I often found it hard to be represented in my hispanic heritage. In return, to growing up in this environment I have always advocated for my people. However, my mission does not end with just my hispanic heritage, I vow to pledge myself to representing all student demographics.

  • Safety is vital to ensuring people can achieve their education. Ensuring that safety is prioritized on campus ensures that students are free to learn without being threatened. I will work to uphold safety on the ASU campus and work diligently to find new ways that can protect students safety.

Along with safety, wellness is equally as vital. I will work to make student wellness a top priority. The amount of student overdoses that occurs with our college students is detrimental. To combat this I want to further enhance the NARCAN initiative and educate students on what to do if they are faced with situations such as overdoes’s.

  • Being a leader is about advocating for those who can’t. I want to also advocate for our environment. Our environment can not advocate for itself, so being able to fight to preserve our environment is something we as humans are called to do. I plan to work with groups on campus to find solutions and ways to help heal our environment and restore what has been destroyed.
